Think It’s Time To Get Paranoid About Your Android

ParanoidAndroid

This is an Android ROM running JellyBean 4.2! This ROM is amazing! Disregarding the bugs of JB 4.2, which just cant be avoided but are not bother some either, this ROM is superb. The features this ROM provides completely enhances the user experience. The main feature that makes ParanoidAndroid a beast is the ability to change the DPI on the fly. While I’m no expert on the topic, the visual changes are incredible and easy to point out. Check out this screen shot of my Galaxy Nexus looking like a tablet or better known as a Phablet.

This is obviously not necessary, but its fun! This just helps feed ROM “Flashers” addiction. so many different modifications are available in this ROM. Many more features will be added as time goes on. I could write for days about the new features brought to your phone by upgrading to JB 4.2, but this post is just to inform you of ParanoidAndroid’s existence. I personally have used this ROM without any glitches. It is my daily driver and it should be yours too!!! So hurry up and go check it out at XDA. click –>> ParanoidAndroid

Apollo From CyanogenMod is HERE!

image

The long awaited music app from the team at CyanogenMod is finally here! It is still new and many other features are planned to be added shortly. But it is missing some key features. Must have features for myself. If your music isn’t located in your music folder, then it won’t list it. Don’t stress though this feature as well as many others will be coming soon. It seems smooth and I like the flow of the screens. There is a feature built in to allow you to take the song or file playing “pin” it to your desktop. Other than that not much different then using Google music. I am looking forward to being able to set the folder where it looks for music as well as share the song I’m listening to on social networks! On a side note you can compete customize the theme colors with a color picker. Check out the photos below! The app is free or only .99¢ which gets you faster updates and removes ads. For .99¢ you will have a decent music player. The updates will come the CyanogenMod team work hard and fast. Jump over to the play store to download it. Stop being stingy with your memory!

Now Network-ing!

So my plan starts here! …. —> (**)

yep… and it ends right……….. ^^^^^^ …… there….

In it’s infancy right now. I am finally after Four years going back to the drawing board and trying to figure out what I really want to do. I’m not leaving my job working for Journeys. I do love my job there. But I have an aspiration to run my own business. Starting a business is a very risky proposition. Four years ago it wasnt. I lived at home. I was single. I had no real responsibilities. Flash forward to NOW. I am Married. I have a 2 year old son. I have a car payment and a town house I am renting. My family depends on me for income. So should i just throw my aspirations away…? What can I do to reach my goal?

These are the questions that i am currently working on. I am researching ideas. I am modifying my original goal. Making it fit around my work schedule and family time. I will find a way to make it work. That i am confident. Motivation is key to my success. Currently i am preparing, so that when the opportunity is presented to me i can take advantage of it.

The Networking, begins now.

Xbox SmartGlass Review… kinda

So today I decided that I should check out Microsoft’s new android app, Xbox Smart Glass. In the video above you get to see me use the app for the first time. I had heard about its functions before and read a review. Thought I would share my own experience with you guys. First off, the app it self is pretty sexy. Secondly, its new so there’s kinks to be worked out. But overall the app does the basics of what they set out to accomplish initially. They stuck with the Xbox 360 theme as well as sounds. Which is nice, there’s no confusion on where things are located if you’ve ever used your Xbox. It allows you to see your own recent activity, which I think is pretty pointless, but who am I to say that. The coolest feature and the only one is ever use the app for is the wireless controller. The Wireless controller works just like the Xbox controller only you’re using your PHONE! Its not a Bluetooth or direct WiFi connection. I think it uses a Microsoft server because you are able to use it whether on WiFi or 3G data. In the video you will see how easy it is to use and learn how to navigate around. One of the greatest features of using the wireless controller is the ability to use your phones keyboard and not being stuck with the keyboard on the Xbox screen keyboard. It is also great if you are watching movies. No need to carry that clunky controller around. Just use your phone. All in all the app is delicious. Its put together well. On my stock Galaxy Nexus it works flawlessly. No glitches or force closes as of yet. Definitely head to the the Google Play Store and check it out for free! http://bit.ly/QKMbAs

Apple, Time For A New Wardrobe!

Apple you are becoming as tasty as a bag of chips left open all night. What gives?

While iPhones do have some pretty decent hardware and a solid OS, little has changed in iOS(save for a few updates that added key features to iPhones.) If nothing new or “revolutionary” is done to revamp interest in iOS, I’m afraid Apple will continue its decline. And by decline I’m referring to mobile market share. The lack of customizing your experience on an iPhone has left me wanting more from the device.

You see, when iPhones were initially released it was amazing. The ease of use. The Apps, oh the apps. How amazing compared to Windows Mobile, which is what I used initially. Flash forward to 2012 and not much has changed other then hardware. Things are just getting stale.

This year we have seen a lot of new hardware. New iPad, iPad mini, iMac and Mac Book Pro with retina display. I think its time to revamp iOS and there’s no way I’m alone. There’s no way Apple doesn’t see this. That is why I believe 2013 will be the year for iOS! You can already see the change in the management team. I think these changes will be risky. Just like Apple redesigning Maps. They’re gonna have to get this right!

Good Luck Apple! You’re gonna need it!

Google’s Main Focus Will Be Mobile, Not Desktop Search

Click to read main article This completely makes sense to me. Personally I rarely use my laptop. Even when I do its not for any of Googles services. Don’t tell anyone but I’m totally addicted to the web browser based mmo OGAME. So I use my laptop for that at times. As well as to pay a few bills. I can’t tell you the last time I actually accessed Facebook, Twitter, or Google Plus from a non mobile device. Between my Galaxy Nexus and my Galaxy Tab I can get everything done that I need to do. Android applications have changed the way that I use the internet. The apps for the social networks are easier to use then the PC interface. This is a great move by Google for recognizing this and making changes accordingly. The biggest improvement I see already is the Android Google+ app and it getting regular updates. Its becoming a full featured app, allowing you to completely control and edit your profile. Not quite there just yet, but almost!

6 Ways To Take Screenshots On Android

6 Ways To Take Screenshots On Android

^^^^^^^^ This is awesome! Just wanted to pass this on. I had a few friends recently ask me how to take screenshots on their android. I’m used to Gingerbread and thought rooting was the only way. I assumed that CM 10 could do this only because you are rooted. However, being rooted isn’t required at all to take screenshots. This article here will show you how. Those with android 4.0 or later can easily take a screenshot by holding the volume down button and power button at the same time until the animation showing the screenshot being taken is complete. Hope this was helpful information! Check me out on Twitter @AndroidNurd yep that’s me Nerd spelled like Turd just not as stinky…
