Why I’m Using Twitter Less

I’m finding that I use twitter less and less and less. Even though I have a lot of followers and I try to interact as much as possible, it’s just not as interactive as Google+. Following conversations are just not easy. Since adopting Google+ as my main social network the way I use twitter has drastically changed. I’ve gone from tweeting an average of over 25 tweets per day down to 17. That number is continuing to go down as I tweet only once or twice a day lately. I’m using Twitter more for news updates and to share my blog posts. There’s just so many ridiculous updates it’s tough to try and read them all everyday. I had to quit using tweet marker because I’d go half a day and find myself with 35k tweets to read.

Seems to me that Google+ has a good thing going. It’s easy to share small snippets of your life or dive deep into a topic of conversation. This is why twitter has been put on the back burner for me. It’s not something I desire to see except for a few people I’m friends with.

I almost never read my timelime on twitter. Instead I jump to my list of “friends”  and read that. If I have extra free time I check my other lists like teamandroid or news accounts. Where as on Google plus I rarely filter my circles and I just check out everyone. Now you may say “it’s a ghost town that’s why.” well for me it’s not a ghost town, I have 325 followers without ever having to deal with the “follow for follow” or anything of the like.  You follow the people who post stuff you like to read.

The hardest part has been trying to show people the value in Google+. This community has so much to offer. An unlimited amount of knowledge and experience at your finger tips. Google+ has forced me to meet new people, make new connection, while making it easier to maintain my current friendships. Let me be honest, I don’t need to read my brothers updates daily, I talk to him all the time. Google+ is what I call a social network. Is for getting to meet new people.

For those who are tired of using so many different social networks, stop! Quit all of them and join Google+. I’m just kidding each network has its advantages. My challenge to you though is to try out Google+, not for 10 minutes, not for a day. Get on there and add people that have similar interests. Next thing you know you will be involved in communities, and carrying on thoughtful conversations with people. Having interactions you never would haberdashery had on twitter or Facebook. I don’t know about you, but a nerdy as I am, most my friends don’t share the same interests. So my interactions on Facebook age boring to me.

Come check out our not so ghost town community here on Google+. You might be amazed at all the features Google has to offer.

Fresh Kicks Friday #2

I’m in the process of moving and this week has been hectic. In all the chaos I found a pair of shoes I forgot all about. They are pretty nice. They are Creative Recreation High Tops. Gray, black and orange with zippers on the side. Creative Recs are one of my favorite show companies. The shoes are fairly comfortable, but they attract attention. You don’t see many people out there wearing them. If you’ve never heard of the brand check out their website they have a ton of stuff on there.

The HTC One ‘Google Edition’ is official! | Android Central

http://m.androidcentral.com/htc-one-google-edition-official

Wow! I guess I was wrong.  I’ve been hearing about this for awhile. It totally makes sense. Just didn’t see HTC releasing it’s grip on its device without its own skin on it.

Personally I won’t be grabbing one aside as I think this makes the HTC One better than the S4. I have an S4 and love it! I’m finally rooted! Decided to do it so I can edit filed I probably shouldn’t be messing with.

The Stomach Bug

So it looks like after a week of being in the safe zone I finally got the dreaded stomach bug. My son, my wife, even his cousins had it, and now me. Today I’m working a 13 hour shift and is not helping. I’m taking more bathroom breaks than products being sold. It feels like someone keeps kicking me in the balls…  What the heck! This is terrible.

gastroenteritis can kiss my ass and go somewhere else. I looked it up and seems like the energy drink I’ve been sipping on all day isn’t good for me at all.  That it’s better for me to sip on clear liquids like flat ginger ale or 7 up. Eating a Whopper probably wasn’t a good idea since it said stay away from greasy food…  Wonderful… So that’s how my day is going. Hope you all are having a better day than I!

Is Rooting Still Necessary?

Is Rooting Still Necessary?

I was just going through the XDA forum and I see that the AT&T Galaxy S4 can now be rooted. I’ve been waiting patiently for a day off of work to make sure i have plenty of time to fix my phone if something goes wrong. Here I am, Finally with that day off and reading up on all of the details. Now that the time is here and rooting is possible I’m kind of hesitant about it. Why do I need to root my device? Normally I am looking for a ROM that improves the functionality of the phone, ie better battery life, better performance, UI enhancements. With the Galaxy S4 I don’t know what I need to improve. The battery life is amazing.

2013-05-27 22.52.14

Performance isn’t an issue everything loads smoothly and apps run perfectly. The UI is TouchWiz and I’ve grown accustom to it. So by rooting and removing all of Samsung’s products all I will be gaining is the “Stock” Android experience. However, I’m not sure I want the stock experience anymore. I like Samsung’s camera and all the little features in it. Yes I actually use the “gimmicks” they advertise. Not all of them, but a lot of them. I like a lot of the air gestures, the camera app, and Samsung’s calendar app. One of the things I like the most about TouchWiz is the notification panel. I like the layout and the colors, it works great. TouchWiz isn’t as nice or as easy to use as stock android, but with just a few tweaks it works faster and still very much usable. the biggest con to TouchWiz is how many clicks it takes to do some things that are so quickly and easily accessed on a Galaxy Nexus. So I’m kinda forced to say that i think Samsung did a great job with this device. I read that some people are saying they think it is a “rushed” device. I don’t see what is so wrong with it other then the build quality, but it’s Samsung, that is not going to change.

So the question I ask to you is rooting still necessary? I am going to say no it’s not. There is no longer a reason I need to root my phone. Now rooting your phone doesnt mean that you have to install a custom ROM you could still root your device and open it up to use apps like Root Explorer or Titanium Backup. But with apps like Helium(backup app just like TB) the need to root is not there. Now this is just or me, there are so many people out there that dont like TouchWiz at all and are just dying to get rid of it. For them i totally understand why they would root their device. So I sit here still wondering if i should root my device. That’s just the nerd in me.

Now I don’t have the HTC One =, but are there any of you out there that have it but not going to root the phone?

‘Who Will Stop Google?’

http://us.appy-geek.com/Web/ArticleWeb.aspx?regionid=1&articleid=9565574

As stated in the article Apple and the internet stopped Microsoft in the PC world, Google stopped Apple in the mobile industry, and Twitter stopped Facebook in the social network domination. But who is there to stop Google?

That a very valid question. There has to be someone else there to share the market and right now there really isn’t; Or is there? Yahoo has been on a spending spree. Maybe they are going to attempt to compete with Google for market share. Who knows, but somebody needs to step up. What are your thoughts?

What Red Means To Me.

What Red Means To Me.

Today has been a long day. Finally off work and home with the family. Today I wore all red to represent my favorite color in the American flag. Some may say the color red stands for blood, war, and courage, which may very well be true. But to me it stands for hardiness and valor. A war isn’t just about winning, you must believe in your cause, have conviction, integrity, compassion, and above all valor. This is why red is my favorite color on the Flag. What is your favorite color in the flag. How about your favorite color in general? I’d love to hear from you. Hope everyone has had an amazing Memorial weekend!
