How To Quickly Charge Your Android Device

image

This is just a couple tips I was thinking about this morning since I forgot to charge my phone last night. Luckily I have the GS4, which has pretty amazing battery life for how much I actually use my phone.

So you need to charge your phone quickly before heading out somewhere… What do you do? First I would look into using a charger that has at minimum 1amp output, 2amps is what I recommend. You can look at the wall plug to figure this out. DONT USE YOUR COMPUTER. The output on USB is much smaller then any wall charger. (There is programs for your PC to increase the output of USB ports.)

Next thing you need to do is shut off your phone. If you don’t want to do this then at least put the phone in airplane mode. When your phone is off its not drawing any power, therefore the battery gets to charge more quickly. WiFi and phone reception draw lots of battery power. Turning these off will help as well.

There ya go… That’s it… So simple but yet something some people don’t think about.

Studies still looking for link between cell phones and brain tumors

http://www.news-republic.com/Web/ArticleWeb.aspx?regionid=1&articleid=23460641

I am a heavy cell phone user. However, I use less then 100 minutes a month on my phone. So even though the research really doesn’t prove that there is any link to cell phone useage and brain tumors, there’s no need for people like me to be worried….

Just wondering… How do you use your phone? I use my phone like I used to use my laptop. My Samsung Galaxy S4 has pretty much put a layer of dust on my laptop. Everything I need I can now do from my phone. Even manage my blog.

Google Now Update Timer Feature

image

Google Now is one of the most amazing things about my Android. I constantly use it and love how integrated it is with my Google Experience Launcher. That being said it has had one of the most annoying problems for me ever! Setting a timer.

Before is you said “OK Goole, set timer for fifteen minutes.” It would actually set an alarm on your device. This would quickly fill up your alarm with useless timers. THIS HAS BEEN FIXED! Its a server side update that doesn’t require you to download anything. Now if you ask it to set a timer it does just that. Sets a timer on the screen for the length you want.

Thanks Google for listening to your consumers. Its appreciated!

American Idol, Who To Vote For

image

This season of American idol is the 8th season in a row I’ve watched all the way through. This season has lacked the talent that AI has been known to produce. Just hit up YouTube and in just a few moments you will find talent as good or better than in the finale. Or maybe not….

Its not hard to edit or make yourself sound better behind a camera. But what about on stage with just a mic and a band? No recording software or voice enhancements. Jena and Caleb are actually not just good singers, but good performers. They are no Carrie Underwood and can only dream of reaching her status in the music industry.

So, who to vote for?

Personally I think Jena has the most potential for success under AI’s influence. Caleb is not as versatile as Jena, but he does sing my favorite genre of music from my favorite generation as well. What do you think?

I know that I would never buy Jena’s music. Just not what I usually enjoy listening too. I do know that Caleb I would want to listen to. I think its time that pop takes a back seat and rock and roll come back.

Rock on….

Movie Theaters and Alcohol

image

Why don’t more movie theaters serve alcohol?

They are really missing out on some easy money. I know the common answer to this question is a question. How are they to keep it out of the hands of those under 21?

That’s not for me to figure out. I’m just making a simple statement. Movies, especially comedies are much more enjoyable while consuming alcohol. Look this is a free business idea… Write it up and profit!

Forced To Buy iPhones Because Apple’s iMessage Won’t Send Texts To Android

image

http://www.businessinsider.com/forced-to-buy-iphones-because-apples-imessage-wont-send-texts-to-android-2014-5?utm_source=mobilesrepublic&utm_medium=referral&utm_term=mobilesrepublic

Business Insider wrote a great article here. You can call me a Google fanboy or whatever, but in reality I’m just not a fan of Apple products. Before Android I was all about windows mobile. I do enjoy my Android device very much so. The current problem some users are having stems from switching from an iOS device to and Android device. Some users aren’t able to receive SMS messages from friends who have an iPhone because it’s still trying to send the SMS as an iMessage. As much as I wish this was a ploy by Apple to retain some of the fleeing customers I don’t believe that’s the case here. This is a bug that can be fixed via updated software. Of course, we might not see that update from Apple for quite some time.

Samsung, Others Invest $42M In Centrify

http://www.businessinsider.com/samsung-others-invest-42m-in-centrify-2014-5?utm_source=mobilesrepublic&utm_medium=referral&utm_term=mobilesrepublic

This is great news!…. OK not really… Google is already working on making Android devices that are built with the Knox technology in it stock. This way big corporations will have more control over what their employees can do with their devices as well as enhance the security of the device itself. Check out that article for all the details.
