Distressed Beginnings

image

With eyes shut wide open
I remember…
I can see the dust I smell
Thru rays of hope shining in
Surrounded by shades of brown
Depressing the walls that suffocate me
A record scratches nearby in the background
Drowned by screams of distress
A panicked storm brews
I heard a thunderous sound that rattled the house
I see the pain marked across her face
This was the beginning of the end of my beginning
… And then I remember to forget

Hitting a woman is never Ok. It’s never forgotten.  My heart is still scarred from this day when I was just 7 years old.

I Am The Antagonist

image

Born into a perpetual cycle of violence,
Playing the part of the faults of others.
The epitome of my mother’s scorn
Living life vicariously behind a toughened facade.
Committing iniquitous acts,
Offering nothing more than an abject apology.
All in the name of righteous indignation.
The product of immediate gratification,
I am the antagonist in this cruel place to be called home.

Growing up in a broken home was tough. Made worse by a mother who only saw evil in the eyes of her child. This is my story.

Solitary Confinement

image

I can hear chatter.
Shuffling of feet.
Tid bits of laughter.
I stood still like a leafless tree
Alone and outcast I existed
Gone and forgotten
Ashamed…
Like an empty glass,
Something was missing
Broken…
Cold concrete beneath me,
Walls engraved with ignorance.
Looking out a window into a world that didn’t exist.
losing all my memories,
To a fate I couldn’t resist.
